Boast

Boast — “YAHWEH says: “The wise must not boast in their wisdom, the mighty must not boast in their power, and the wealthy must not boast in their riches. If you’re going to boast, then boast about this: that you understand My ways and know My heart, and you know that I am YAHWEH. Let the wise boast in knowing how I demonstrate infinite love, true justice, and righteousness, for these are the things that delight my heart,” declares YAHWEH.” (Jeremiah 9:23-24, The Passion Translation)

Boasting about what we’ve done or what we have is not something we should do or even want to do!  We want other people to be proud of us, without realizing that in our boasting we could make those listening feel less important! It also can make us look haughty and better than others. That’s the very opposite of being humble.

There are many examples in scripture. “Remember this: If you have a lofty opinion of yourself and seek to be honored, you will be humbled. But if you have a modest opinion of yourself and choose to humble yourself, you will be honored.” (Matthew 23:12, TPT)

It’s natural to want to share our accomplishments, but let us learn how to do it without “blowing our own trumpet”
