Demonstrate — “This is how we have discovered love’s reality: Jesus sacrificed His life for us. Because of this great love, we should be willing to lay down our lives for one another. If anyone sees a fellow believer in need and has the means to help him, yet shows no pity and closes his heart against him, how is it even possible that God’s love lives in him? Beloved children, our love can’t be an abstract theory we only talk about, but a way of life demonstrated through our loving deeds. We know that the truth lives within us because we demonstrate love in action, which will reassure our hearts in His presence.” (1 John 3:16-19, TPT)
Our actions truly show what’s in our hearts. We hear the saying “don’t just talk the talk, walk the walk”. Many times people say they love others, but their actions don’t demonstrate that! That’s like the verse that says “we will know them by their fruit” — by the actions in their lives!
“You can spot them by their actions, for the fruits of their character will be obvious. You won’t find sweet grapes hanging on a thorn bush, and you’ll never pick good fruit from a tumbleweed. So if the tree is good, it will produce good fruit; but if the tree is bad, it will bear only rotten fruit and it deserves to be cut down and burned. Look at the obvious fruit of their lives and ministries, and then you’ll know whether they are true or false.” (Matthew 7:16-20, TPT)
Our actions will speak louder than our words. Are your words lining up with your actions?
Let’s Pray:
Daddy God, we thank You for demonstrating Your love for us through Jesus' sacrifice. Help us to understand that true love isn't just words we speak but actions we take. Show us where our words and actions might not be lining up, and give us hearts that are willing to lay down our lives for one another in practical ways. Transform us so that our love becomes a way of life demonstrated through loving deeds rather than just abstract theories we talk about. Let the fruit of our lives clearly show that Your love lives within us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
