Joy

Joy — “Joy is not a luxury option; joy is your constant. Your union in the Lord is your permanent source of delight; so I might as well say it again, rejoice in the Lord always. This kind of joy empowers you to show perfect courtesy towards all people. The Lord is not nearer to some than what He is to others. Let no anxiety about anything distract you. Rather translate moments into prayerful worship, and soak your requests in gratitude before God.” (Philippians 4:4-6, The Mirror Bible)
Joy is your constant? For most of us, that often seems hard. Joy is more than a feeling; it’s a state of being. And, it’s a choice!
Most of the time, we equate joy with happiness. And yes, a joyful person seems happy. But we can have joy in times of trouble:“Temptations and contradictions come in wha different shapes, sizes, and intervals; their intention is always to suck you into their energy field. However, my friends, your joy in who you know you are leads you out triumphantly every time.” (James 1:2, The Mirror Bible)
Joy can be found in times of sorrow, in times of praise, and in time of worship. Joy is a gift from Daddy God.
We find strength and comfort from joy. It’s referenced not only in the New Covenant but also in the Old — more than 150 times. So no matter where you find yourself, joy is not far off!
Today’s Declarations:
I declare that joy is not a luxury for me — it is my constant, rooted permanently in my union with the Lord!
My joy is not dependent on my circumstances — it flows from who I know I am in Christ, and that never changes!
Whatever temptations or contradictions come my way today, my joy leads me out triumphantly — every single time!
I show perfect courtesy to all people — my joy is generous because its source never runs out!
I translate every moment into prayerful worship and soak my requests in gratitude — and joy rises in me regardless of what I am facing!
Let’s Pray:
Daddy God thank You that joy is not a luxury — it is our constant, rooted permanently in our union with You. Thank You that this joy has been woven through the story of Scripture from the beginning, part of Your heart for Your people in every season and every covenant. Today help us rejoice in You always — not as a performance but as the natural overflow of who we are in Christ. When temptations and contradictions come, remind us that our joy in who we know we are leads us out triumphantly every time. Let no anxiety distract us. Help us translate this moment into worship and soak every request in gratitude. And let the joy that is our constant flow generously toward everyone we encounter today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Be a Blessing,
Sir Gregory
