Mercy — “The wicked need to abandon their ways, and sinful ones need to banish every evil thought. Let them return to Yahweh, and they will experience His compassionate mercy. Yes, let them return to God, for He will lavish forgiveness upon them. “For My thoughts about mercy are not like your thoughts, and My ways are different from yours. As high as the heavens are above the earth, so My ways and My thoughts are higher than yours.” (Isaiah 55:7-9, TPT)

We often quote verse 8b, “My ways are not your ways”. But what are Daddy God’s ways? His ways are higher: Love first, mercy abundant and freely given, restoration not condemnation, abundance, patient and long-suffering, faithfulness through relationship — not religion, and generosity. Daddy doesn’t just govern. He’s redemptive in ALL Things!

This is just a sampling of His ways. We could add so much more. When we do a deep dive, we come to find out that mercy is included in almost all of His ways. Look at salvation. If it wasn’t for mercy, there wouldn’t be any saving grace!

Here is a biblical definition of mercy: At its core, biblical mercy is withholding what is deserved while giving what is needed.

Daddy God has been very merciful to us. What about your mercy? Is it like His or is more selfish? If we ask, He will help our ways to be more like His!

Todays Declarations:

• I declare that Daddy God's ways are higher than mine — and I choose to operate from His mercy rather than from human instinct or self-interest!

• Mercy is woven through every one of Daddy God's ways — and I allow that same mercy to be woven through every one of mine!

• I withhold what is deserved and give what is needed — that is the Biblical definition of mercy and it is the standard I live by!

• I ask Daddy God to help my ways become more like His — lavish in forgiveness, abundant in mercy, and redemptive in all things!

• His mercy is as high as the heavens above the earth — and I draw from that inexhaustible height to pour out mercy on everyone I encounter today!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God Your mercy is higher than we can fully comprehend and we are grateful beyond words. Thank You that when we deserved judgment You lavished forgiveness. When we deserved condemnation You offered restoration. When we deserved the consequence You withheld it and gave us what we needed instead. That is Your way. And today we ask You to make it ours. Holy Spirit transform the mercy we give — from self-shaped and conditional to God-shaped and lavish. Help us withhold what is deserved and give what is needed in every relationship, every conflict, every moment where human instinct wants to keep score. Let Your higher ways become our daily ways. And let the mercy that flows through us today be unmistakably Yours — as high above ordinary human mercy as the heavens are above the earth. In Jesus' name, Amen.
