Covenant, Mat. 26:26-30 (TPT), "As they ate, Jesus took the bread and blessed it and broke it and gave it to His disciples. He said to them, "This is My body. Eat it." Then taking the cup of wine and giving praises to the Father, He entered into covenant with them, saying, "This is My blood. Each of you must drink it in fulfillment of the covenant. For this is the blood that seals the new covenant. It will be poured out for many for the complete forgiveness of sins. The next time we drink this, I will be with you and we will drink it together with a new understanding in the Kingdom Realm of My Father.
"Then they sang a psalm and left for the Mount of Olives."
We have heard so many different interpretations of what we call the last supper's communion. Rarely has it been spoken of as a covenant. Mostly we hear judgment and correction. Covenant is so much better! Jesus used it as an invitation to be with Him!
He even proclaims that next time they will have a new understanding of it. I wonder what happened to the new understanding? It seems time as given us a corrupt interpretation. We have been told to take it in a 'worthy manner', and if you don't then you could die from it. (Rubbish, Skubala = Greek for dung, crap or BS).
Jesus died to make the way clear to Him, Daddy God and Holy Spirit. He wasn't putting stumbling blocks in our way. So next time you take communion, remember that Jesus made a covenant with us. He even knows we can't always keep our side of the covenant, so He did both for us. Selah
Be a Blessing, Sir Gregory
