The Kingdom Where Everyone Gets to Play

The Kingdom Where Everyone Gets to Play

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams." (Acts 2:17)

Notice what's missing from that verse? Any mention of professional clergy. Any requirement for seminary training. Any exclusion based on gender, age, education, or economic status. When God poured out His Spirit, He made hearing His voice available to everyone.

Yet somehow, we've created a "professionals only" mentality around spiritual communication. We've built hierarchies that suggest some people are more qualified to hear from God than others. That's not God's Kingdom—that's the world's system creeping into the Church.

No VIP Section in God's Kingdom

In the Kingdom Jesus established, there's no VIP section for spiritual communication. Your race doesn't matter. Your education level doesn't disqualify you. Your past mistakes don't exclude you. Your gender doesn't determine your access to God's voice.

This is radically different from how the world operates. In worldly systems, power flows downward through hierarchies. Authority means control. Leadership equals being in charge. But in God's Kingdom, power flows in all directions. Authority means responsibility to serve. Leadership means lifting others up.

When it comes to hearing God's voice, the Kingdom operates on the same principles. We're all equal recipients of His Spirit. We all have access to the same intimate communication with our Father. We're all invited into the conversation.

The Mutual Nature of God's Communication

Just like everything else in God's Kingdom, communication with Him is mutual and reciprocal. He loves us, we love Him. He respects us, we respect Him. He honors our free will, our thoughts, our struggles—and He wants us to honor what He shares with us.

The only thing I don't see as mutual in our relationship with God is worship—that's reserved for Him alone. But everything else? He treats us as partners, not servants. He speaks to us as friends, not subjects. He includes us in His plans rather than just commanding us to obey.

This mutual relationship extends to how He communicates. God doesn't speak to you because you've earned it or reached some spiritual milestone. He speaks to you because you're His beloved child, and that's what loving parents do—they communicate with their children.

Beyond Traditional Limitations

For too long, we've allowed cultural limitations to define who gets to hear from God and how. We've let gender roles, educational requirements, and religious hierarchies create barriers that God never intended.

But God's Spirit doesn't recognize those human-made boundaries. Holy Spirit moves where He wills, speaks through whom He chooses, and uses whomever is willing to listen. The early Church understood this—women prophesied, young people saw visions, people from every background heard God's voice.

It's time to return to that biblical reality. God's communication isn't limited by our religious boxes or cultural expectations. He speaks to mechanics and CEOs, to stay-at-home moms and college professors, to teenagers and senior citizens. The only requirement is a heart that says, "Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening."

Your Invitation to the Conversation

If you've been sitting on the sidelines thinking God's voice is for "other people"—the more spiritual ones, the ministry leaders, the ones who seem to have it all figured out—I have news for you: you're invited too.

God doesn't have favorites when it comes to communication. He doesn't love pastors more than plumbers or prophets more than preschool teachers. He poured out His Spirit on "all flesh," and that includes you.

The question isn't whether you're qualified to hear God's voice—you already are by virtue of being His child. The question is whether you'll step into that invitation and start listening for the voice of the One who loves you most.

Starting Where You Are

You don't need special training to begin. You don't need to wait until you feel "spiritual enough." God meets you exactly where you are and speaks to you in ways you can understand.

Start by simply believing that God wants to communicate with you. Create some quiet space in your day. Pay attention to those spontaneous thoughts and gentle impressions. Write down what you sense. Ask questions and listen for responses.

Remember, this is about relationship, not performance. God isn't grading your spiritual communication skills—He's delighting in connection with His beloved child.

In God's Kingdom, everyone gets to play. Everyone gets to hear His voice. Everyone gets to participate in the ongoing conversation between heaven and earth. The invitation is open, the access is free, and the conversation is waiting.

Don't let anyone convince you that God's voice is reserved for a select few. Your Heavenly Father is speaking—and He's speaking to you.

Blessings,
Susan Dewbrew
