Identity — “We are not finding our identity or security in the walled city of popular legalistic religious opinion. Our interest is captured by a different kind of city, much closer to us than the visible one. Praise replaces sacrifice; the harvest we bring is the tribute of our lips acknowledging His Name.” (Hebrews 13:14-15, The Mirror Bible)
I wonder if Jesus walked into today’s religious institutions, would He be recognized? Most of what goes on inside the walls of today’s churches looks nothing like what Apostle Paul described in 1 Corinthians 14:26. “I would encourage you to conduct your meetings in such a way that everyone is mutually edified. Each one in turn may contribute in music, in a teaching; another may bring a tongue with a revelation and interpretation.” (The Mirror Bible)
Many are confused about where their identity comes from. It comes directly from being in the presence of Daddy God, Jesus and Holy Spirit — not from inside any organization, whether that be a church, school, government or any other group! It’s okay to be involved in these things, just don’t let them define who you are or who you belong to!
Let your praise invite the presence of Daddy God, Jesus and Holy Spirit to define your identity!
Today’s Declarations:
I declare that my identity is not found in any walled city of religious opinion — it is found in the presence of Daddy God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit who live in me!
I am not defined by any organization, institution, church, school, government, or group — I am defined by Who I belong to!
My praise invites the presence of the Trinity — and in that presence my true identity is revealed, confirmed, and secured!
I contribute to the community of faith from what Holy Spirit has placed in me — and I receive from what He has placed in others!
The harvest of my lips acknowledges His Name today — and that acknowledgment is my genuine expression of who I am and Whose I am!
Let’s Pray:
Daddy God we come to You today releasing every identity that was built on institutional walls, religious opinion, or organizational standing. We acknowledge that those things were never designed to hold what only You can hold — the full, secure, permanent reality of who we are. Today we bring the harvest of our lips — praise that acknowledges Your Name, worship that invites Your presence, and the honest surrender of every false identity we have been carrying. Define us. Confirm us. Secure us in the only identity that never shifts and never fails — the identity of sons and daughters who belong to You, who carry Your presence, and who find their truest self in relationship with Daddy God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. Let that presence be the center of every gathering we are part of. And let the praise on our lips open the awareness of the city much closer to us than any visible one. In Jesus' name, Amen.
