Interfering — “Once when He was in the synagogue, a man possessed by a demon—an evil spirit—cried out, shouting, “Go away! Why are You interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” But Jesus reprimanded him. “Be quiet! Come out of the man,” He ordered. At that, the demon threw the man to the floor as the crowd watched; then it came out of him without hurting him further.” (Luke 4:33-35. New Living Translation)
Can you image it? Right in the middle of what we would call church, the demons inside a possessed person cries out, “Why are you here interfering with us?”Rather than interfere, the other translations use the word “destroy” or “meddle.”
The demons didn’t like Him interfering and neither did those in the religious gathering just before in verse 28-30. When Jesus spoke, the crowds wanted to throw Him off a cliff. But He just walked away.
Most of the time, when Jesus entered a city or region, He wasn’t accepted whole heartily. He stirred up controversy, especially with the religious! Not much has changed today. Deliverance and healing still seem to have the same effect.
We need Jesus to join in our gatherings to interfere and bring truth to our world. I’m not talking about a revival or renewal. Sadly, for many of those, the presence of Daddy God, Jesus and Holy Spirit made Their presence tangible, but the movements faded. We need a Renaissance — a lasting transformation — with a total refiguring of our understanding of who They are!
Come Jesus Come!
Today’s Declarations:
I declare that I welcome the interference of Jesus in every area of my life — let Him disrupt, challenge, and reshape everything that has been running in His absence!
I am not satisfied with visits from heaven — I am calling for a Renaissance, a permanent arrival of understanding that changes everything!
The presence of Daddy God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit is welcome in every gathering I am part of — even when that presence disrupts what was comfortable!
I am not afraid of what Jesus surfaces when He shows up — I trust that His interference always produces freedom, truth, and life!
Come Jesus come — not to pass through but to stay, to reshape, and to leave nothing the way it was before You arrived!
Let’s Pray:
Jesus come. Not as a visitor who stirs things up and moves on. Come as the One who stays — who walks into every gathering, every home, every city, and every nation and does what Your presence has always done. Surface what is hidden. Challenge what is established. Liberate what is captive. Silence every protest of every spirit that has been running comfortably in Your absence. And do not stop at revival or renewal or awakening — go all the way to Renaissance. A total, permanent, foundational refiguring of how Your people understand You, how they understand themselves, and how they live in the light of both. We welcome the interference. We welcome the discomfort. We welcome the reshaping. Come Jesus come — and leave nothing the way it was before You arrived. On this 4th of July we declare that the greatest freedom this nation needs is the freedom that only Your permanent presence produces. In Your name and by Your authority, Amen.
