Alive — “The law demanded my death; grace reveals that in God’s mind Jesus died that death. So as far as the law is concerned, I’m a dead man but as far as God is concerned I’m alive. So here I am dead and alive at the same time. I’m dead to the old me I was trying to be and alive to the real me which is Christ in me. Co-crucified, now co-alive. What a glorious entanglement. I was in Him in His death; now I discover that He is infused in me, in my life. For the first time, I’m free to be me in my skin, immersed in His faith in our joint-sonship. He loves me and believes in me. He is God’s gift to me.” (Galatians 2:19-20, The Mirror Bible)
Jesus died a horrible death so we could live a wonderful life! This life isn’t always easy, yet the alternative is much worse. Paul explains that our lives are in Christ, and He is in us. When He died we died. He fulfilled the law by living a life free from sin. And when we try to keep the law, we make His death of no account. Paul goes on to ask the Galatians who bewitched them into falling back into legalism.
We are not much different than the Galatians. Our faith may be weak, but His faith in us is always strong. Let’s live alive in Christ’s love and faith, bringing truth and salvation to our society, culture, and the world!
Let’s Pray :
Good morning, Daddy God! Thank You for the glorious entanglement of being dead and alive at the same time through Jesus. Help us truly understand that when Jesus died our horrible death, we died with Him, and when He rose to wonderful life, we rose with Him. Free us from trying to keep the law and making His death of no account. Holy Spirit, show us who might be trying to bewitch us back into old ways of thinking. We're so grateful that even when our faith is weak, Jesus' faith in us is strong. Help us live alive in Christ's love and faith, bringing truth and salvation to our society, culture, and the world. We are co-crucified and co-alive - what a glorious reality! In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today’s Declaration:
I am dead and alive at the same time - dead to my old identity and alive to Christ in me. I refuse to make Jesus' death of no account by trying to earn what He freely gave. Even when my faith is weak, His faith in me is strong. I am co-crucified and co-alive in a glorious entanglement with Jesus. I will live fully alive in His love and faith, bringing truth and salvation to my world.
Be a Blessing,
Sir Gregory
