Aware
Daily Vitamin
Aware — “But you need to be aware that in the final days the culture of society will become extremely fierce. People will be self-centered lovers of them-selves and obsessed with money. They will boast of great things as they strut around in their arrogant pride and mock all that is right. They will ignore their own families. They will be ungrateful and ungodly.” (2Timothy: 3:1-2, The Passion Translation)
We are all well aware of how difficult and arrogant our society has become. The problem is that people believe it’s going to get worse, instead of believing that we can be the turnaround.
Paul encourages Timothy that he is not just to be aware of the wickedness but that he is to make a difference! “But you, Timothy, have closely followed my example and the truth that I’ve imparted to you. You have modeled your life after the love and endurance I’ve demonstrated in my ministry by not giving up. The faith I have, you now have. What I have hungered for in life has now become your longing as well. The patience I have with others, you now demonstrate.” (3:10, TPT) Paul wasn’t trying to scare Timothy, he was encouraging him in how much he has caught the truth for changing society!
Let’s not just be aware; let’s catch what Holy Spirit is teaching us to do about it!
Let’s Pray:
Daddy God! Help us not just be aware of how fierce and difficult our society has become, but to believe we can be the turnaround instead of expecting things to get worse. Give us Timothy's heart to closely follow the example of those who've gone before us in faith. Help us model our lives after love and endurance, never giving up in our ministry to others. Let the faith, hunger, and patience demonstrated by Your servants become our own characteristics. We don't want to just observe the wickedness around us - we want to catch what Holy Spirit is teaching us to do about it! Make us difference-makers, not just difference-observers. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today’s Declarations:
refuse to just be aware of cultural problems; I choose to be part of the turnaround. I will closely follow the examples of faithful believers who demonstrate love, endurance, faith, hunger for God, and patience with others. I believe God's power is greater than cultural decay, and I will model Kingdom values in hostile environments. I will catch what Holy Spirit is teaching me to do about the difficulties around me and be a difference-maker, not just a difference-observer.
I decree that I am part of God's turnaround solution in these fierce times!
I decree that I model love and endurance, never giving up in my ministry to others!
I decree that faith, spiritual hunger, and patience are transferring to me through godly examples!
I decree that I catch what Holy Spirit teaches me to do about cultural problems!
I decree that I demonstrate Kingdom values that counteract the selfishness and arrogance around me!
