Devotion — “What I want from you is steadfast love not simply dead sacrifices; I want you to know Me intimately not simply give burnt offerings.” (Hosea 6:6, TPT)

“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8, NKJV)

“It pleases God more when we demonstrate godliness and justice than when we merely offer Him a sacrifice” (Proverbs 21:3, TPT)

All through the Old Testament, we see that Daddy God would rather have devotion than sacrifice. We no longer offer up blood scarifies, but most consider our works to be our modern day sacrifice.

Jesus came and added a new layer to this: “But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” (Matthew 9:13, NKJV) “But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless” (Matthew 12:7, NKJV)

Our devotion to Daddy God, Jesus and Holy Spirit is way more important than works, giving, or church attendance. Works could mean include anything that we consider to be a sacrifice for them. But devotion is more about the heart than the hands. It’s a covenant of commitment, no matter the cost. It’s like the saying, “Passion looks like sacrifice to those who are not in love.”

Once we commit our devotion to Them, then we become valuable to Their creation, which includes our fellow humans! No better day to start this than today!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God, we come before You understanding that what You desire most from us is not our works or sacrifices but our hearts in genuine devotion. Help us to know You intimately rather than just performing religious activities. Teach us that devotion is about covenant commitment, not just outward actions. Transform our hearts so that our love for You flows naturally into justice, mercy, and humility. Let our devotion to You make us valuable to Your creation and a blessing to our fellow humans. Show us the difference between passion-driven devotion and sacrifice that looks burdensome to those who don't understand love. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today’s Declaration’s:

I declare that my devotion to God is more important than my works, giving, or religious performance.

I declare that I choose steadfast love over dead sacrifices and intimate knowledge of God over external offerings.

I declare that I will do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly as expressions of my devotion to God.

I declare that my passion for God will look like sacrifice to those who don't understand love, but it's actually joy to me.

I declare that my devotion to God makes me valuable to His creation and a blessing to my fellow humans.

Be a Blessing,

Sir Gregory
