Eyes — “The eyes of your spirit allow revelation-light to enter into your being. When your heart is open the light floods in. But when your heart is hard and closed, the light cannot penetrate and darkness takes its place.” (Matthew 11:34, The Passion Translation)

There are many references to our eyes in scripture. Eyes play an important part of life. Some predators have alluring eyes that mesmerize their victims. Proverbs talks about not staring at the bubbles in the wine. (Prov 23:31) John tells us in 1John 2:16, “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.” (NKJV) The lust of the eyes caused Pharaoh’s wife to want Joseph.

Our physical eyes are important; maybe that’s why we read about so many blind people in the Bible. But so are our spiritual eyes. Paul reminds the Ephesians of this: “I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of His calling— that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that He finds in us, His holy ones!” (Ephesians 1:18, TPT)

Let’s keep our eyes wide open to the love of Daddy God, Jesus and Holy Spirit and keep the evil out!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God! Open the eyes of our spirits so that revelation-light can flood into our being. Keep our hearts open and soft so that Your light can penetrate every part of us. Help us guard both our physical and spiritual eyes from the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Illuminate the eyes of our imagination with Your light until we experience the full revelation of the hope of Your calling and the wealth of Your glorious inheritance that You find in us. We choose to keep our eyes wide open to Your love and firmly closed to evil. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today’s Declarations:

I choose to keep my spiritual eyes wide open to receive revelation-light from God. I will guard both my physical and spiritual eyes from the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and pride of life. I ask God to illuminate the eyes of my imagination, flooding me with light until I experience the full revelation of His calling and see the glorious inheritance He finds in me. I keep my eyes wide open to the love of Daddy God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit while firmly shutting them to evil.

Be a Blessing,

Sir Gregory
