Leaders — “I have a special concern for you church leaders. I know what it’s like to be a leader, in on Christ’s sufferings as well as the coming glory. Here’s my concern: that you care for God’s flock with all the diligence of a shepherd. Not because you have to, but because you want to please God. Not calculating what you can get out of it, but acting spontaneously. Not bossily telling others what to do, but tenderly showing them the way. (1 Peter 5:1-3, The Message Bible)
This describes the upside-down pyramid that Jesus taught! It’s is a great model for leaders in the church, as well as in business and politics. Actually, it’s a great model for all aspects of life and can be implemented into our family structures.
“Jesus interrupted their argument, saying, “The kings and men of authority in this world rule oppressively over their subjects, claiming that they do it for the good of the people. They are obsessed with how others see them. But this is not your calling. You will lead by a different model. The greatest one among you will live as one called to serve others without honor. The greatest honor and authority is reserved for the one who has a servant heart.” (Luke 22:25-26, The Passion Translation)
Jesus was a servant leader. Let’s lead others into their callings and gifting by our love for them, not by force or coercion! Leading with love will bring you more satisfaction and the respect of others.
Let’s show the world what the Kingdom of God looks like!
Today’s Declaration:
I am God's beautiful sanctuary, and He lives in me. Jesus restored me to my original design where God and I are perfectly joined together. I don't have to earn God's presence - I already have it. No matter what happens today, I am always in God's presence, and I carry His presence everywhere I go. I am holy, blameless, and loved because God made me that way.
Let’s Pray:
Daddy God! Thank You for making me a beautiful sanctuary of Your presence! Help me understand that through Jesus and Holy Spirit, I can dwell in Your presence every moment of every day. You've restored me to my original design - for You to live in me and me to live in You. When the cares of life, religious confusion, or the enemy try to convince me I'm far from You, remind me that I am always in Your presence. Help me realize that I carry Your very presence into the earth realm wherever I go. Make my heart sing with joy as I live in union with You, my true source and spring of life! In Jesus' name, Amen.
