Leave

Leave — “He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one embraces Me unless the Father has given you to Me.” And so from that time on many of the disciples turned their backs on Jesus and refused to be associated with Him. So Jesus said to His twelve, “And you—do you also want to leave?” Peter spoke up and said, “But Lord, where would we go? No one but You gives us the revelation of eternal life. We’re fully convinced that You are the Anointed One, the Son of the Living God, and we believe in You!”  (John 6:65-69, TPT)

Many today have left organized religion and church gatherings. Some call those that have left “lost” and use scriptures like this (without reading the context): “You can expect to be persecuted, even killed; for you will be hated by all the nations because of your love for Me. Then many will stop following Me and fall away, and they will betray one another and hate one another. And many lying prophets will arise, deceiving multitudes and leading them away from the path of truth. There will be such an increase of sin and lawlessness that those whose hearts once burned with passion for God and others will grow cold.“(Matt. 24:9-13a,TPT)

The truth is that many have left, but I would say most of them didn’t leave because of Jesus! Quite the opposite. Many have left because of unsound teaching, along with feeling like they are being persecuted when they’re not. It’s fake persecution!

So don’t ever leave Jesus. Be like Peter who said, “You are the Lord!” We can change our world with Jesus’ kind of Love!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God, in a time when many are walking away from organized religion and church structures, help us to discern the difference between leaving broken systems and leaving You. Give us the wisdom to distinguish between Your voice and the voices of men, between Your love and religious manipulation. Like Peter, may we always come back to the fundamental question: "Where else would we go?" For You alone have the words of eternal life. Anchor us to You, not to institutions, and let our love for You burn brighter than our disappointment with people. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today’s Declaration’s:

I declare that my relationship is with Jesus, not with religious systems or institutions.

I declare that I will represent Jesus' kind of love - unconditional, transformative, and liberating.

I declare that I will not confuse criticism of religious systems with persecution of faith.

I declare that where Jesus is, there is life, hope, and transformation that no other source can provide.

I declare that I will help people distinguish between leaving broken systems and leaving the living Christ.

Be a Blessing,

Sir Gregory
