Perfect — “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in Heaven. For He gives His sunlight to both the evil and the good, and He sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:43-48, NLT)

In our culture being perfect is a hard saying! Have you ever been asked, “Who do you think you are? Are you perfect?”

Jesus gave us an example of how to be perfect — love. Our adversary wants us to divide over anything and everything. The one thing that brings the most division is a lack of love! If we can be persuaded to separate, that’s a win for the enemy.

When you find yourself not loving a people group, ask yourself why. And ask, “What Would Jesus Do!” I’m not saying you need to agree with the evils of our world. No one should get away crimes. What I’m saying is that you can pray for them. In doing so, you become like Daddy God, Jesus and Holy Spirit.

They are perfect. When we act like Them, we become perfect too!

Todays Decrees:

• I declare that I love my enemies and pray for those who persecute me — not because it is easy, but because it makes me a true child of my Father in Heaven!

• I do not withhold love from anyone based on merit — I give it freely, the way Daddy God gives sunlight to the evil and the good alike!

• I refuse to let the adversary divide me through the withholding of my love — my love is his target, and I will not surrender it!

• When I notice I am not loving someone, I ask why — and I bring that question honestly before Daddy God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit!

• I am becoming perfect — not flawless, but complete — as I grow into the shape of my Father's love for all people!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God, thank You for giving Your sunlight to the evil and the good alike, and for sending rain on the just and the unjust. Teach us to love the way You love — without calculation, without waiting for people to earn it, without withholding based on merit. Show us honestly where we have let division win the fight for our love. Give us the courage to pray for those who persecute us, and the wisdom to hold both genuine love and honest discernment at the same time. Make us complete, as You are complete. Make us perfect, as You are perfect — not by our own effort, but by becoming like You, one act of love at a time. In Jesus' name, Amen.
