Questions — “Among the many sick people lying there was a man who had been disabled for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, He knew that the man had been crippled for a long time. Jesus said to him, “Do you truly long to be well?” (John 5:5-6, The Passion Translation)

This might seem like an odd question, “Do you want to be healed?” He was at the pool with many more that supposedly got healing. Yet Jesus asked him the obvious question, “Do you want to be healed?”

Asking questions is a way to learn. Sometimes we assume we know the answer, but we really don’t have a clue. Do you ask questions or do you assume you know? Jesus refused to assume!

Let’s learn to ask questions first of ourselves, then of others. Jesus’ motive was to heal this man. But the man could’ve said no. So questions are an important part of life. Ask Holy Spirit to teach you what questions to ask!

Let’s Pray:

Good morning, Daddy God! Thank You for Jesus, who shows us the power of asking the right questions. Help us learn to ask instead of assume, to inquire instead of presume we know all the answers. Holy Spirit, teach us what questions to ask - of ourselves first, then of others. Give us the wisdom to dig deeper, to truly understand hearts and motives, just like Jesus did with the man at the pool. Break us free from the habit of making assumptions and give us the courage to ask the questions that lead to real breakthrough. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Be a Blessing,

Sir Gregory
