Daily Vitamin

Study — “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is My command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:8-9, NLT)

We are frequently told to read our Bibles. This is a good thing, but the better thing is to study and meditate on the scriptures. There is a vast difference between reading and studying.  Do we always understand what we are reading? Nope. This is why only reading doesn’t give us what we need.

Solomon prayed: “Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?” (1Kings 3:9, NKJV)

He actually asked for understanding, not wisdom. Yes, with understanding comes wisdom. Seems like a small thing, but wisdom without understating has led many down a wrong path.

Take some more time to study the Bible rather than just read it like a fictional story book. It is truly non-fiction with history, poetry, prophesy, promises, and directions to live our lives by!

Today’s Declaration’s:

• I declare that I study God's Word continually, meditating on it day and night, not simply reading it in passing!

• I ask Daddy God for an understanding heart, trusting that wisdom will rightly follow from genuine understanding!

• I prosper and succeed because I am careful to obey what I have genuinely understood, not merely what I have skimmed!

• I approach Scripture as the true, non-fiction history and direction it actually is, not as a story to be read quickly and set aside!

• I am strong and courageous, for the Lord my God is with me wherever I go, and His Word gives me true understanding for the path ahead!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God, thank You for Your Word, a true and reliable book of instruction, promise, and direction for our lives. Forgive us for the times we have simply read without truly understanding, treating Your Word too casually rather than studying and meditating on it continually. Give us understanding hearts, like You gave Solomon, trusting that wisdom will rightly grow from that foundation. Help us see Scripture as the non-fiction history it truly is, full of promises meant to be trusted and obeyed. Let this deeper understanding produce in us the strength and courage to face whatever lies ahead, knowing You are with us wherever we go. In Jesus' name, Amen.
