Sword — “The message God spoke to us in Christ, is the most life giving and dynamic influence in us, cutting like a surgeon’s scalpel, sharper than a soldier’s sword, piercing to the deepest core of human conscience, to the dividing of soul and spirit; ending the dominance of the sense realm and its neutralizing effect upon the human spirit. In this way a person’s spirit is freed to become the ruling influence again in the thoughts and intentions of their heart. The scrutiny of this living Sword-Logos detects every possible disease, discerning the body’s deepest secrets where joint and bone-marrow meet.” (Hebrews 4:12, The Mirror Bible)

Although we know the Word of God is Jesus (John 1:1-14), the “word of God” has been used to mean the Bible. And, it’s used as part of the armor of God — it’s the sword of the Spirit.

In Ephesians 6, we are told that we don’t fight against flesh and blood. “People are not the enemy, to target one another is to engage in the wrong combat. We represent the authority of the victory of Christ in the spiritual realm. We are positioned there (in Christ); we confront the mind games and structures of darkness, religious thought patterns, governing and conditioning human behavior.” (Ephesians 6:12, The Mirror Bible)

We understand that not everything happens in the physical realm; there are things going on in spiritual realm too. Holy Spirit is here to help us confront those spirits of darkness. The written and spoken words of Daddy God, Jesus and Holy Spirit are what we use to overcome our adversaries.

This is why it’s important that we know and understand scriptures. This is how we overcome: It’s by the blood of Christ and our testimony — that too becomes a weapon of warfare!

We all have swords. Let’s not use them against each other but rather against our enemies!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God, help us understand the power of Your Word as both a life-giving force and a spiritual weapon. Teach us to wield the Sword of the Spirit with wisdom and precision, using it to divide soul from spirit and confront the true enemies of darkness rather than targeting one another. Holy Spirit, help us learn and understand Scripture so we can overcome through the blood of Christ and our testimony. Make us skilled in spiritual warfare that targets the right enemy. In Jesus' name, Amen.

• I decree that I use my spiritual sword against darkness, not against people!

• I decree that I am skilled in spiritual warfare that targets the right enemies with the right weapons!
