Talk — “Steadfastly maintain your relationship with God by talking with Him often; be alert, keeping watch over your hearts, and preserve thankfulness. And remember us also in your conversations with God: ask that He will open a way for us to proclaim more broadly the truth about Him—hidden by Satan’s lies, but revealed in Christ Jesus—this truth for which I am imprisoned.” (Colossians 4:2-3, The Remedy Bible)

Notice how Paul begins: "Steadfastly maintain your relationship with God by talking with Him often." Before he says anything about requests or intercession, he starts with relationship. Prayer isn't first a task to complete or a list to get through. It's a conversation with Someone who loves us and wants to talk with us. To be effective in our prayers for others we first need to talk with Daddy God on a personal level. Then we can talk to Him about others. Just like before we can talk to others about Him, we first need to talk with Him!

Paul is asking for prayer and intercession which in its simplest form is having a conversation with Daddy God. This takes more than talking at Daddy God. It also includes listening to what He has to say. So we should spent more time listening than talking.

Why not have a chat today? Talk to Him about your day. Thank Him. Ask Him a question, and then pause and listen. Lift others up to Him. Then keep the conversation going. He loves it!

Today’s Decrees:

🔥 I decree that I have a living, ongoing conversation with Daddy God!

🔥 I decree that I hear His voice clearly when I listen!

🔥 I decree that doors open for the truth of Christ to be proclaimed, and I pray with faith and thanksgiving!

🔥 I decree that my prayers for others carry power, because they flow from my relationship with Him!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God, thank You for inviting me into conversation with You. Help me to talk with You often, to be alert, to guard my heart, and to live with thankfulness. Teach me to listen as well as speak, and to hear what You have to say. Open doors for the truth of Christ to be proclaimed more broadly, and let my prayers for others flow out of a deep, personal relationship with You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Be a Blessing,

Sir Gregory
