Whisper — “Then he was told, “Go, stand on the mountain at attention before God. God will pass by. ”A hurricane wind ripped through the mountains and shattered the rocks before God, but God wasn’t to be found in the wind; after the wind an earthquake, but God wasn’t in the earthquake; and after the earthquake fire, but God wasn’t in the fire; and after the fire a gentle and quiet whisper. (I Kings 19:11-12, The Message Bible)
Most of us want Daddy God to speak to us in a loud voice, yet we read that often it’s just in a whisper. How do you hear a whisper? You need to be still and listen! “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! (Psalms 46:10, NKJV).
In our society, people have a hard time being “still” because that requires us to be quiet. So take some time to be still and listen. Daddy God is speaking, just typically not in a booming voice!
What has He whispered to you lately?
Let’s Pray:
Daddy God, we confess that we often expect You to speak to us in dramatic ways - through hurricanes, earthquakes, and fire - but You've shown us that You often choose to communicate in gentle whispers. Help us to be still enough to hear Your quiet voice. Teach us to listen with our hearts, not just our ears. In a world full of noise and chaos, create spaces of stillness where we can hear Your tender whispers of love, guidance, and encouragement. Give us ears to hear what You're saying in the quiet moments. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today’s Declaration’s
I declare that I will be still and listen for God's gentle whispers rather than waiting for dramatic displays.
I declare that I create space in my life for the stillness required to hear God's quiet voice.
I declare that God is speaking to me regularly through His gentle and quiet whispers.
I declare that I value intimate communication with God over spectacular demonstrations of His power.
I declare that I will pay attention to what God whispers to my heart and respond with obedience and faith.
Be a Blessing,
Sir Gregory
