Angels — “It’s obvious, of course, that He didn’t go to all this trouble for angels. It was for people like us, children of Abraham. That’s why He had to enter into every detail of human life. Then, when He came before God as high priest to get rid of the people’s sins, He would have already experienced it all Himself—all the pain, all the testing—and would be able to help where help was needed. (Hebrews 2:16-18, The Message Bible)

We read a lot about angels in the Bible, as well as in all kinds of literature. We have paintings and sculptures of what we believe angels look like. Yet do we really know? We read about both faithful ones and fallen ones. It seems we exalt them over humankind.

The Bible tells us that none of the angels are loved as much as we are! Jesus came as a human to redeem our fallen state. Angels were created to help humans, and some got jealous and tried to rule over mankind. But Daddy God wasn’t having it. Jesus came to win our dominion back and to restore mankind into our rightful place!

When Jesus came, we saw angels assisting as helpers. Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus and not other created beings! And remember that some angels snuck over the wall instead of following the Great Shepard through the gate!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God! Thank You that Jesus didn't come to redeem angels but to redeem us - people made in Your image. Help us understand that while angels are amazing created beings, none of them are loved as much as we are. Thank You that Jesus entered into every detail of human life, experiencing all our pain and testing so He could help where help was needed. We don't want to exalt angels above their rightful place as our helpers. Keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, who won back our dominion and restored mankind to its rightful place. We're grateful that Jesus put angels in their proper role as our helpers and that our identity and worth come from being Your beloved children. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today’s Declarations:

I keep my eyes fixed on Jesus, not on created beings like angels. I understand that Jesus entered every detail of human life to qualify as my High Priest who can help where help is needed. I'm grateful that angels are my helpers, assigned by God to assist me in fulfilling my divine calling. I will not exalt angels above their rightful place but will recognize that I am loved by God more than any angel and have dominion restored through Christ.

I decree that my focus remains on Jesus, the Creator, not on created beings like angels!

I decree that I understand my rightful place as God's image-bearer with restored dominion through Christ!

I decree that angels serve their proper role as my helpers, not as objects of worship or obsession!

I decree that Jesus' human experience qualifies Him to help me in every struggle I face!

I decree that I am loved by God more than angels and am the focus of His redemptive plan!
