Delight

Delight — “Don’t follow after the wicked ones or be jealous of their wealth. Don’t think for a moment they’re better off than you. They and their short-lived success will soon shrivel up and quickly fade away like grass clippings in the hot sun. Keep trusting in the Lord and do what is right in His eyes. Fix your heart on the promises of God and you will be secure, feasting on His faithfulness. Make God the utmost delight and pleasure of your life,and He will provide for you what you desire the most.” (Psalm 37:1-4, TPT)
Many times we put our wants above our needs. This can get us confused on what would be best for us. The writers of Psalms and Proverbs warn us about getting our desires mis-aligned! When we are delighting in the Lord, then our desires become His desires.
Jesus came and lived a life worthy of us delighting in Him. So, I no longer live my life for myself, but for Christ who lives in me!
“The old me who lived for self—who sought to get instead of give, the me who lived on the survival-of-the-fittest principle—died when I recognized the true significance of all that Christ has done. That old me no longer lives, but Christ—with His character of self-sacrificing love—now lives in me. The life I now live in this body I live by trust in the Son of God, who loved me and freely gave Himself to win me back to trust and to purge humanity from selfishness and death” (Galatians 2:20, The Remedy Bible)
Let us delight in Christ who delighted in us first!
Todays Declarations:
I declare that I make Daddy God the utmost delight and pleasure of my life — and He is realigning my desires to match His own!
I do not follow after the wicked or envy their short-lived success — I keep trusting in the Lord and fix my heart on His promises!
The old me who lived for self has died — Christ with His self-sacrificing love now lives in me!
I live by trust in the Son of God who loved me and freely gave Himself for me — not by striving in my own strength!
I delight in Christ who delighted in me first — and that delight is the source of everything I want and everything I do today!
Let’s Pray:
Daddy God thank You for delighting in us first — long before we ever turned toward You, long before we understood what self-sacrificing love even meant. Help us today to release every comparison, every jealousy, every pull toward the short-lived success of this world that fades like grass clippings in the sun. We fix our hearts on Your promises. We make You the utmost delight and pleasure of our lives. Put to death in us the old self that lived for self, that sought to get instead of give. Let Christ live fully in us today — His character, His love, His self-giving nature flowing through everything we do. We live by trust in the Son who loved us and gave Himself for us. Realign our desires until they look like Yours. And let us feast on Your faithfulness today instead of chasing what was never going to satisfy. In Jesus' name, Amen.
