Evil — “Avoid every appearance of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21, The Passion Translation)
“So you shall put away the evil from among you. (Deuteronomy 22:21B, NKJV)
You may ask what is evil? Well I’m glad you asked. Paul gives us a pretty clear picture “The behavior of the self-life is obvious: Sexual immorality, lustful thoughts, pornography, chasing after things instead of God, manipulating others, hatred of those who get in your way, senseless arguments, resentment when others are favored, temper tantrums, angry quarrels, only thinking of yourself, being in love with your own opinions, being envious of the blessings of others, murder, uncontrolled addictions, wild parties, and all other similar behavior. Haven’t I already warned you that those who use their “freedom” for these things will not inherit the kingdom realm of God!” (Galatians 5:19-21, TPT)
This is a pretty exhaustive list, but it’s definitely not all inclusive. There is a lot of evil not listed here! So how do we put away evil? Read on in Galatian’s 5, and you will see a list of what we call the fruit of the Spirit. Once we train ourselves to walk in the fruit of Holy Spirit, it becomes easy to recognize the evil that tries to seduce us into its way! Ephesians 6:11, gives us instructions on putting on the full armor of God! This is a great place to start.
Ask Holy Spirit what evil is trying to seduce you, and then put it AWAY!
Let’s Pray:
Daddy God! Help us avoid every appearance of evil and put away the evil from among us. Give us wisdom to recognize the obvious behaviors of self-life: sexual immorality, lustful thoughts, manipulation, hatred, senseless arguments, temper tantrums, selfishness, envy, and all similar behaviors. We don't want to use our freedom as a license for these things and miss the kingdom realm. Train us to walk in the fruit of Holy Spirit so we can easily recognize the evil that tries to seduce us. Help us put on the full armor of God and ask Holy Spirit to reveal what evil is trying to seduce us, then give us strength to put it AWAY! In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today’s Declaration:
I choose to avoid every appearance of evil and put away all evil from my life. I reject the obvious behaviors of self-life: sexual immorality, manipulation, hatred, senseless arguments, selfishness, envy, and all similar behaviors. I will not use my freedom as a license to sin. Instead, I train myself to walk in the fruit of Holy Spirit, which makes it easy to recognize and resist evil's seduction. I put on the full armor of God and ask Holy Spirit to reveal any evil trying to seduce me, then I put it AWAY completely.
I decree that I avoid every appearance of evil and maintain a testimony that honors God!
I decree that self-life behaviors have no place in my life - I put them away completely!
I decree that I walk in the fruit of Holy Spirit, making evil's seduction powerless over me!
I decree that I am protected by the full armor of God from every evil attack and scheme!
I decree that Holy Spirit reveals every seduction strategy, and I reject evil immediately and completely!
