Giving — “I am not laying out rules on giving to bring you back into bondage and duty-driven legalism. Your sincere love, encouraged by the enthusiasm of fellow believers, is what distinguishes your giving (from the old written code of tithing.)” ( 2 Corinthians 8:8, The Mirror Bible)
Paul is explaining that should come from a heart posture, not out of duty or law. Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice (His life) not out of compulsion or duty, but out of love! Later Paul encourages the Corinthians to give, not because they have to but because they get to!
“Let giving flow from your heart, not from a sense of religious duty. Let it spring up freely from the joy of giving—all because God loves hilarious generosity!” ( 2 Corinthians 9:7, TPT)
In many religious institutions, manipulative tactics have turned giving into “have to.” Leaders tell people they wont be blessed if they don’t give. They teach that tenth belongs to God and their institution receives it on God’s behalf. In truth, it all belongs to Him! It’s not wrong to give into a religious institution; just understand that you have the choice.
Daddy God, Jesus and Holy Spirit love a generous giver! Be sure your giving flows from your heart and from the prompting of Holy Spirit. Let your giving be out of a “get to”, and not a “have to!”
Let’s Pray:
Daddy God, we thank You for Your incredible generosity toward us and for the example of Jesus who gave His life not out of compulsion but out of love. Help us to understand that true giving flows from the heart, not from religious duty or manipulation. Free us from any "have to" mentality about giving and help us to discover the joy of "get to" generosity. Let Holy Spirit prompt our giving so that it springs from sincere love and brings You glory. Thank You that everything belongs to You and we get to participate in Your work through generous hearts. In Jesus' name, Amen.

I declare that my giving flows from my heart and sincere love, not from religious duty or manipulation.
I declare that I give because I get to, not because I have to, recognizing it as a privilege rather than obligation.
I declare that Holy Spirit prompts my giving and it springs up freely from the joy of generosity.
I declare that I reject manipulative tactics about giving and choose to give from choice and conviction.
I declare that I am a generous giver whom God delights in, and my giving brings Him joy.
