Imitate — “Delightfully loved ones, don’t imitate what is evil, but imitate that which is good. Whoever does good is of God; whoever does evil has not seen God.” (3 John 11, TPT)
This seems like really simple instructions. So why are they so hard to follow? Reminds me of food. We know that certain foods are not good for us, but we eat them anyway! Why is that? Most of the time, it’s simply learned habits. Just like children will act, talk, and even walk like their parents — whether good or bad!
Paul give Timothy some things we can imitate, “Timothy, you are God’s man, so run from all these errors. Instead, chase after true holiness, justice, faithfulness, love, hope, and tender humility. So fight with faith for the winner’s prize! Lay your hands upon eternal life, to which you were called and about which you made the good confession before the multitude of witnesses!” (1 Timothy 6:11-12, TPT)
Let’s learn from Holy Spirit, Daddy God and Jesus. They are the One who is truly worth our imitation!
Lets Pray:
Good morning, Daddy God! I pray You had a wonderful night watching over us. Thank You for this fresh day to choose who we're going to imitate. Help us break free from copying what's evil and start imitating what's good. Holy Spirit, show us when we're following learned habits that don't honor You, and give us the strength to chase after true holiness, justice, faithfulness, love, hope, and tender humility instead. We want to imitate You - Daddy God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit - because You are truly worth copying. Help us fight with faith for the winner's prize and lay hold of the eternal life we're called to. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today’s Declarations:
I choose to imitate what is good and run from what is evil. I will not be an automatic copy machine for toxic influences. Instead, I will chase after true holiness, justice, faithfulness, love, hope, and tender humility. Holy Spirit, Daddy God, and Jesus are my ultimate models - They are truly worth my imitation. I fight with faith for the winner's prize and lay hold of the eternal life I'm called to live.
Be a Blessing,
Sir Gregory
