Daily Vitamin

Vine —“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. (John 15:1-2,NKJV)

We have been taught that Daddy God removes the branch’s that don’t produce fruit. That can certainly be true, but let’s look at it from the Hebrew word for ‘takes away’: αἴρω - airō, which means take away; take up; rise up; pick up.

Other translations bring forth a different meaning. Here’s one example: “I am a true sprouting vine, and the farmer who tends the vine is My Father. He cares for the branches connected to Me by lifting and propping up the fruitless branches and pruning every fruitful branch to yield a greater harvest.” (John 15:1-2, TPT)

This sounds more like Jesus to me. The Father doesn’t throw people away. Rather He cares for the vine, cleaning and propping it up so it can receive sunlight and gain strength. And He prunes the healthy ones so they can produce even more fruit.

We are the branches, and by choosing to stay connected to the Vine (Jesus), He will care for us by lifting us up, brushing us off, and pruning us when needed. However, if the branch doesn’t stay connected, it is removed from the vine. (Verse 6 explains this.)

Just because there isn’t fruit in your life right at this moment, that doesn’t mean you will be cut off from Jesus. Allow Him to pick you up, brush off the crusty things of life, and prop you up so that your fruit will once again sprout!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God, thank You for being the loving vinedresser who cares for every branch connected to Jesus. Help us understand Your heart to lift up, prop up, and clean off the branches that aren't producing fruit rather than immediately cutting them off. Jesus, You are the true vine, and we choose to stay connected to You through every season - whether You're lifting us up when we're struggling or pruning us when we're fruitful. Holy Spirit, help us trust the process and remain connected to the Source of all life. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today’s Decrees:

• I declare that I am connected to Jesus, the true vine, and will remain connected through every season!

• I declare that when I'm struggling, God lifts me up and props me up rather than cutting me off!

• I declare that I trust the loving vinedresser to clean off debris and provide the support I need!

• I declare that seasons of unfruitfulness are opportunities for restoration, not reasons for rejection!

• I declare that I will bear fruit again as I stay connected to the Source of all life!
