Patience — “Meanwhile, brothers and sisters, we must be patient and filled with expectation as we wait for the appearing of the Lord. Think about the farmer who has to patiently wait for the earth’s harvest as it ripens because of the early and latter rains. So you also, keep your hopes high and be patient, for the presence of the Lord is drawing closer.” (James 5:7-8, The Passion Translation)

Patience is a word that is mostly despised. Why? It’s probably because we live in a society that wants what it wants and wants it right is now! But sometimes we have to go through hard times to gain things of value! James reminds us that a farmer doesn’t sow seeds and then expect a harvest the next day. Luke reminds us of an important benefit of being patient: “Stand firm with patient endurance and you will find your souls’ deliverance.” (Luke 21:19, TPT)

Patience is not always easy, fun or quick. But the rewards outnumber the discomfort. And being impatient can cause all kinds of trouble. It can prolong your blessings and even cause sickness in both your body and soul. Not to mention having to go around the proverbial mountain again and again!

Let’s let patience do its work in us and watch the blessings of salvation come, along the rest of the benefits the scriptures talk about!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God! What a grand day to be alive and well in You! Help us embrace patience even though our society despises it and wants everything now. Give us the heart of a farmer who patiently waits for the earth's harvest, knowing that early and latter rains are necessary for growth. Keep our hopes high and fill us with expectation as we wait for Your appearing. Help us stand firm with patient endurance so we can find our souls' deliverance. We don't want impatience to prolong our blessings, cause sickness, or make us go around the same mountain repeatedly. Let patience do its perfect work in us! In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today’s Declarations:

I choose to be patient and filled with expectation as I wait for the Lord's appearing. Like a wise farmer, I will wait for the early and latter rains, trusting God's perfect timing for my harvest. I will keep my hopes high and stand firm with patient endurance, knowing this will bring deliverance to my soul. I refuse to let impatience prolong my blessings or cause sickness in my body and soul. I will let patience do its perfect work in me and watch for all the benefits Scripture promises.

Be a Blessing,

Sir Gregory
