Patience — “You are always and dearly loved by God! So robe yourself with virtues of God, since you have been divinely chosen to be holy. Be merciful as you endeavor to understand others, and be compassionate, showing kindness toward all. Be gentle and humble, unoffendable in your patience with others. (Colossians 3:12, The Passion Translation)

Patience isn’t a word that we like, mostly because, “we want what we want, and we want it right now!” Waiting is hard for most of us. There are lots of stories throughout the scriptures with people who demonstrated patience and others who didn’t. Esau was famished and sold his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of stew instead of waiting a little bit to prepare food. (Genesis 25) Sounds like many of us today. Instead of fixing a meal, we call DoorDash! I bet you can think of many similar stories.

But that’s now how Jesus operates. He could’ve destroyed the devil in the wilderness, but instead He waited. Both in the garden and on the cross, He could’ve called for a legend of angels to stop His arrest and execution. Instead, He showed great patience for He knew the outcome would be worth the wait.

The next time you get anxious or frustrated with events of life, stop and ask Holy Spirit what the bigger picture is. Then take a breath, relax, and allow the expressions of love to shine through your life! (Gal.5:22-23)

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God, help us remember that we are always and dearly loved by You! Teach us to robe ourselves with Your virtues since we have been divinely chosen to be holy. Give us patience that is merciful, compassionate, gentle, humble, and unoffendable. Help us resist the "we want it now" mentality and instead trust Your perfect timing. Show us the bigger picture when we get anxious or frustrated, and help us breathe, relax, and allow the expressions of love to shine through our lives. Make us like Jesus who demonstrated perfect patience even when He could have acted differently. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today’s Encouragement:

Remember, you are always and dearly loved by God! This love is the foundation for every virtue, including patience. When you truly know you're secure in His love, you don't have to rush, strive, or panic about timing. You can rest in His perfect plan and timing.

Patience isn't something you have to manufacture through gritted teeth and white knuckles. It's a virtue of God that you simply put on like clothing. You robe yourself with His nature, and patient responses flow naturally from who you are in Him.

Don't let the instant gratification culture steal your destiny like it did Esau's! He traded his birthright for immediate satisfaction and regretted it for the rest of his life. God's timing always produces outcomes far better than anything your impatience could achieve.

Follow Jesus' example - He had the power to end His suffering immediately but chose patience because He understood the bigger picture. The garden, the cross, and His entire earthly ministry demonstrated that God's outcomes are always worth the wait.

When you feel anxious or frustrated with life's events, stop and ask Holy Spirit for the bigger picture perspective. Then take a breath, relax your body and mind, and choose to let love flow through you instead of impatience and frustration.

Remember, patience is fruit of the Spirit, not fruit of your effort. Allow the Holy Spirit to produce this virtue through you as you stay connected to the vine. Be merciful as you endeavor to understand others, show compassion and kindness, and remain gentle, humble, and unoffendable.

Your patience becomes a powerful testimony to others of God's love and character. When people see supernatural patience in the midst of difficult circumstances, they witness the reality of God's presence in your life.

Trust the process, embrace the wait, and watch how God's perfect timing produces results that exceed your highest expectations!

Be a Blessing,

Sir Gregory
