Recognize — “A new day for mankind has come. The authentic light of life that illuminates everyone was about to dawn in the world. Although no one took any notice of Him, He was no stranger to the world; He always was there and is Himself the author of all things. It was not as though He arrived on a foreign planet; He came to His own, yet His own did not recognize Him.” (John 1:9-11, The Mirror Bible)

When Jesus came into our realm, mankind didn’t recognize who He was! Yet He still came and gave up His life for us! I wonder if He came back today, would He recognize this world He created and died for?

“The entire cosmos is the object of God’s affection. And He is not about to abandon His creation - the gift of His Son is for mankind to realize their origin in Him who mirrors their authentic birth - begotten not of flesh but of the Father. In this persuasion the life of the ages echoes within the individual and announces that the days of regret and sense of lost-ness are over. God has no intention to condemn anyone - He sent His Son, not to be the Judge but the Savior of the world.” (John 3:16-17, The Mirror Bible)

If He returned today, would we recognize Him? I pray we would! He loves YOU so much that it wouldn’t matter if we recognized Him or not. He would do it all again!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God, we are humbled by the reality that when Jesus came to His own creation, His own people did not recognize Him. Help us to have spiritual eyes that would recognize Your presence and Your work in our world today. Open our hearts to see You not just in the obvious places but in the unexpected moments and through unexpected people. Thank You for Your incredible love that would compel You to give everything for us even when we failed to recognize Your worth. Help us to be people who recognize and honor You in whatever form You choose to reveal Yourself. In Jesus' name, Amen.

I declare that I will cultivate spiritual eyes that recognize Jesus in whatever form He chooses to reveal Himself.

I declare that I will not limit God by expecting Him to work only in familiar or traditional ways.

I declare that I recognize Jesus as the author of all creation who came to His own world to save it.

I declare that I am deeply loved by God regardless of my ability to recognize or appreciate Him perfectly.

I declare that I will live in awareness of God's affection for the entire cosmos and my role in His redemptive purposes.
