Rest — “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to Me. Get away with Me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with Me and work with Me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with Me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11:28-30, MSG)

There are many types of rest: sabbath rest, presence rest, eternal rest to name a few. One thing rest isn’t is laziness or doing nothing. We make a conscious decision if we will rest or not. Jesus promises no heavy burdens, only light ones. To rest in Jesus takes action; it’s a choice.

We understand that in giving the land a rest, it will produce more. Allowing your animals a rest from working gets more done. Same with us; to rest gives you time to recharge physically, mentally and emotionally.

Let’s learn the art of resting in the presence of Daddy God, Jesus and Holy Spirit. It’s both a command and promise!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God, thank You for inviting us to come to You when we're tired, worn out, and burned out on religious performance. Jesus, teach us how to take real rest by walking and working with You, learning the unforced rhythms of grace. Help us understand that rest isn't laziness but a conscious choice to trust in Your provision and finished work. Holy Spirit, show us the art of resting in Your presence, knowing that this is both Your command and Your promise. In Jesus' name, Amen.

• I declare that I come to Jesus for real rest when religious activity becomes exhausting!

• I declare that I learn the unforced rhythms of grace rather than forced religious performance!

• I declare that Jesus' yoke is easy and His burden is light, perfectly fitted for me!

• I declare that I choose to rest in God's presence to recharge physically, mentally, and emotionally!

• I declare that rest is both God's command and His promise, and I receive both!
