Serve — “The disciples bickered over which one of them would be considered the greatest in the kingdom. Jesus interrupted their argument, saying, “The kings and men of authority in this world rule oppressively over their subjects, claiming that they do it for the good of the people. They are obsessed with how others see them. But this is not your calling. You will lead by a different model. The greatest one among you will live as one called to serve others without honor. The greatest honor and authority is reserved for the one who has a servant heart. The leaders who are served are the most important in your eyes, but in the kingdom, it is the servants who lead. Am I not here with you as one who serves?” (Luke 22:24-27, The Passion Translation)
Many people have been trained to climb the corporate ladder by any means possible. This mindset has even infiltrated the church world wide. Yet Jesus taught a totally different model. He demonstrated what a true servant is.
It’s okay to be a leader, but one that leads by example and not dominance or force! When you learn to have a servant’s heart and mind, you will accomplish more and have more people will follow your example
Let’s Pray:
Daddy God, You've turned everything upside-down in the most beautiful way! While the world teaches us to climb over others to get to the top, You show us that the way up is actually down. Help us embrace the servant's heart that Jesus modeled for us. Break off any corporate ladder mentality that's crept into our thinking and replace it with Kingdom values. Show us how to lead by example, not by force or dominance. Let us find our greatest joy not in being served, but in serving others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Declaration:
I choose to lead like Jesus - through service, not force. My greatness is not measured by how many people serve me, but by how many people I serve. I will climb down the ladder of worldly success to walk up the staircase of Kingdom impact. My authority comes from my willingness to serve, and my influence flows from my example.
Be a Blessing,
Sir Gregory
