Sin
Daily Vitamin
Sin — Paul tells us that, “… all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23, NKJV) John tells us that, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (1John 1:8,NKJV)
Job asks Daddy God to show him exactly what is his sin. “How many are my iniquities and sins? Make me know my transgression and my sin.” (Job 13:23, NKJV) This is really a great question. Sin is being disobedient to the law of love.
The word sin has become such a generic term! Religion would have you say things like: I’m a liar, I’m a thief, I’m an adultess, I’m an addict, I am a drunkard — you name it! But since is not who you are. You are a child of God.
I believe that if we want to break a certain stronghold in our lives, we need to confess and be specific. Just like in prayer, we don’t pray for a broken arm if someone has cancer! Shot gun prayers aren’t effective. Neither is shotgun repentance.
Let’s break away from disobedience so we can have complete freedom!
Let’s Pray:
Daddy God, help us understand sin as disobedience to Your law of love, not as our identity! Give us the courage to be specific in our confession like Job, asking You to show us exactly what areas need Your transformation. Break us free from generic religious labels that define us by past behavior instead of our true identity as Your children. Help us move from shotgun repentance to specific confession that brings complete freedom. Show us how to break away from disobedience so we can walk in the freedom You purchased for us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today’s Decree’s:
I decree that I am God's child, not defined by past disobedience!
I decree that I confess specific sins to receive specific freedom!
I decree that I break away from disobedience to love completely!
I decree that I use targeted confession, not generic repentance!
I decree that I walk in complete freedom from sin's power!
I decree that love is my standard, not religious rule-keeping!
Be a Blessing,
Sir Gregory
