Teach — “Be committed to teach the believers all these things when you are with them in the presence of the Lord. Instruct them to never be drawn into meaningless arguments, or tear each other down with useless words that only harm others. Always be eager to present yourself before God as a perfect and mature minister, without shame, as one who correctly explains the Word of Truth.” (2Timothy 2:14-15, The Passion Translation)
The King James Version reads, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2Timothy 2:15) As we study, we find that James says, “My dear brothers and sisters, don’t be so eager to become a teacher in the church since you know that we who teach are held to a higher standard of judgment” (James 3:1, TPT)
How many people (and even leaders) honestly take these verse to heart? We have gotten so far from what the scriptures teach without any accountability or apparent consequences. Old Testament prophets were stoned if they misrepresented Daddy God. Obviously, I don’t think that we should bring back stoning, but the complete lack of accountability is something to ponder.
Paul warned Timothy to watch his words, reminding him that the tongue is hard to tame! In our world of social media, people speak without thinking. Next time you want to say ugly or negative things, ask Holy Spirit if they represent who you truly are!
Let’s Pray:
Good morning, Daddy God! Help us take seriously the responsibility that comes with our words, whether we're teaching others or just speaking in daily conversation. Give us wisdom to study and correctly explain Your Word of Truth, and conviction when we're tempted to speak carelessly. Holy Spirit, help us never be drawn into meaningless arguments or tear each other down with useless words. Instead, let our words build up, encourage, and represent who You've called us to be. Tame our tongues and guide our social media posts so that everything we say honors You and helps others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today’s Declaration:
I take seriously the responsibility that comes with my words. I will study to show myself approved, correctly handling God's Word of Truth. I refuse to be drawn into meaningless arguments or speak useless words that only harm others. Before I speak or post, I will ask Holy Spirit if my words represent who I truly am in Christ. I choose to use my voice to build up, encourage, and accurately represent God's heart to the world.
Be a Blessing,
Sir Gregory
