Teachings — “So then, dear family, stand firm with a masterful grip of the teachings we gave you, either by word of mouth or by our letter. (2 Thessalonians 2:15, TPT)

How many times have we been taught something then it seems to slip away so easily?

David had the same problem! Samuel had anointed him to be king, but David forgot it for a season. “And David said in his heart, “Now I shall perish someday by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape to the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me anymore in any part of Israel. So I shall escape out of his hand.” Then David arose and went over with the six hundred men who were with him to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath. (1 Samuel 27:1-2, NKJV) David had forgotten who he was! This not only affected him but also all of his men!

How many times have we been taught who we are but then forget when troubles come? Let’s remember what we’ve been taught so those with us may prosper and not fail!

Let’s Pray:

Daddy God, we come before You with grateful hearts, acknowledging that You are the source of all truth and wisdom. As we dive into Your Word today, help us to have ears to hear and hearts to receive what You want to teach us. Give us the grace to not just hear Your teachings, but to hold them firm in our spirits, especially when circumstances try to shake our foundation. Let Your Holy Spirit illuminate our understanding and anchor these truths deep within our souls. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
