Delight

Words of Encouragement

If you have been comparing your life to someone else's — their success, their wealth, their apparent ease — be gentle with yourself but also be honest. What you are seeing is grass clippings in the hot sun. Impressive for a moment, gone before you know it. The thing you were actually made for is so much more lasting — a delight in Daddy God that realigns your deepest desires and provides for you exactly what you truly need, not just what looked appealing from a distance. And here is the most freeing part of today's word — you do not have to manufacture this delight through willpower or religious effort. The old self that compared and competed and grasped for more has already died. Christ lives in you now. And the life you live today, you live by trust in the One who loved you and gave Himself for you long before you ever turned His direction. Delight in Him today. He delighted in you first.

So stop being hard on yourself for running out of willpower — and start calling out to the One whose power never runs out. He is not disappointed in you for being human. He is ready and waiting to be exactly what you need in exactly this moment. Call out. He is listening. And the way of escape is closer than you think.
